Warn Winch Remote Wireless vs. Wired Switch: What I'd Actually Install
Ask ten off-roaders how their Warn winch is controlled and you'll get ten different answers. Some won't run anything except a wired switch bolted to the dash. In a recovery, you want to be away from the line, ideally at the driver's side of the vehicle, with a clear view of the anchor and the drum. And if you drive into low winter sun, a shade to block low sun is worth more than most electronics. I'm not talking about a cardboard visor. I'm talking about a proper visor extension—or rather, a shade panel that doesn't block your A-pillar. Blocking glare while you're steering toward a stuck vehicle is basic risk reduction.
Speaking of maintenance: does ceramic coating require maintenance? Yes. It's a coating, not a force field. You still have to wash the truck. What changes is that mud, tree sap, and salt won't bond as aggressively, so the wash takes less time. But if you let the coating sit under dirt for months, it will dull. Ceramic coating reduces maintenance. It doesn't eliminate it.
So Which Should You Choose?
I went back and forth on my own truck for a week. Wired offered simplicity. Wireless offered safety. I eventually installed both.
Here's my rule of thumb:
